This series titled, “Power,” discusses the relationship and connectivity between the human body and the mind. Attitude and positive energy surrounding the spirit have a direct impact on the strength, health, recovery, and power of the physical. The shapes, negative space, and stitch-like strokes provide a commentary on the fragility of the human body. We bend and we break but never are we powerless.
Who are we? This primal question permeates at the core of each and every one of us. At one point or another we have subconsciously or actively tangled with the concept of identity. In this series titled, “Roots,” there is a reinvestigation of this question. Upon learning of an affair during my great grandparent's generation, the ties to our roots suddenly muddied. The texture and colorful energy of this series symbolizes the emotional urgency to find cultural connection in our new ancestral line.
