About

Andi Bray graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in 2015. She recalls her "love moment" with painting came when a substitute professor scrapped the project for the day (another still life) and had the students paint whatever they wished. A couple hours later, she had her first abstract work splattered, dripped, and smudged all over the canvas.

Andi’s work is largely inspired by her connection with nature and the many facets within it that are mirrored in our own humanity. Whether it’s the layers of the ocean or the ridges of a mountain, she finds a narrative and it moves her to celebrate it in her own way.

Her style has been referred to as “colorist.” She uses bold colors in her work to reflect nature’s unsaturated purist form of being.

When she was in elementary school, she once had an art teacher give her a failing grade because she drew a flower (another still life) in untraditional colors. Even then, she was a colorist.

She worked in Manhattan for five years before putting down roots in the mitten state (Rockford, Michigan) in 2020.

When she is not swimming, hiking, or running she is enjoying life with husband, Rich, and their dog, Luci. And getting inspired for her next piece.
